Controls System Engineer
Job Summary:
Our client, an Automation & Engineering Firm serving diverse industries including Refining, Gas & Oil, Pipeline, Renewable, Chemical, and BioPharma, seeks a Control System Engineer to join their team in Concord, California. As a crucial member, you'll be instrumental in designing, programming, implementing, and commissioning advanced control systems for refinery clients. Your role involves leading control system design, interfacing with clients and internal teams, and ensuring project success.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in Control Systems or Process Automation is advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Control System Engineer with expertise in Honeywell DCS and Allen Bradley PLC. Hands-on experience in industrial control systems design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Honeywell DCS Expertise: Proficiency in Experion PKS or TDC 3000, configuring controllers, programming logic, and regulatory control loop setup.
- Programming Skills: Proficient in ladder logic, Function Block Diagrams (FBD), and Structured Text (ST).
- System Integration: Experience integrating control systems with hardware components and communication protocols like Modbus, OPC, or Ethernet/IP.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Adaptability and Initiative: Ability to work in a dynamic environment, manage multiple tasks, and proactively explore new technologies.
- Other Platforms: Familiarity with Triconex, Honeywell Safety Manager, or similar platforms is a plus.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, design, and implement control systems to enhance industrial processes.
- Lead discovery investigations and project scoping efforts.
- Develop logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engineering solutions.
- Support project manager with control activities, schedule, and client meetings.
- Execute factory acceptance testing and field start-up/commissioning.
Physical Requirements:
- Travel to local refineries and plants.
- Standing/walking around operation units while wearing PPE.
