EHS Professional (Bilingual)
We are looking for a Bilingual EHS Professional to join our team in support of our major client in a project assignment function. This will be a short term, five-month assignment located in Alabama, and non-local candidates are eligible to receive per diem for travel to site. The Bilingual Construction EHS Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Construction EHS Manager/Director by providing EHS oversight of a designated project. This oversight includes compliance with our client company's and regulatory EHS requirements as well as development, implementation and oversight/assurance of the site safety plan and contractor' compliance with our client company Site-Specific Safety Program (SSSP) and company Safe Work Practices. Pay Range: $45.00-$60.00 per hour (Depending on experience & qualifications)
Schedule: 40-50 hours per week
Type: Exempt Contract Assignment (all hours over 40 hrs. paid in ST)
Travel: For non-local candidates, travel required for consideration
Per diem: $149.00 per calendar day
Duration: 5 months
Hours/ Shift: Day Shift 7:00am-5:00pm / Night shift requirement starting end of October
Responsibilities:
The Construction EHS Coordinator must be knowledgeable and experienced in working in all facets of a major construction project. Additionally, this individual must be intimately familiar with the client's Safe Work Practices and the client's SSSP requirements for contractors. The Construction EHS Coordinator will work closely with the Project Leadership Team, Vendors, and Contractors to ensure that the Company's EHS goals and objectives are met.
- Enter, publish, and track Observations and LFO's as directed by Manager.
- Maintain a recordkeeping system for the clients Issued Permits on project locations. These include Hot Work, Excavation, Permit Required Confined Space, Lock Out/Tag Out, Line Break, Live Electrical and all others as requested by the Manager.
- Coordinate and lead safety orientations to educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
- Conduct safety audits regularly to identify deficiencies and report them to the Safety Manager to find mitigation means.
- Maintain records and electronic files as directed.
- Monitor the Incident Investigation Process, ensuring that investigations are closed out in a timely manner.
- Champion a culture of Operational Discipline within construction that results in a 'Zero-Incident Culture' on the Project.
- Supports and provides assurance and oversight for contractors, and their subcontractors, who are working on an company site.
- Ensure employee', contractor', and vendor' work practices are compliant with OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory agencies, as well as with company standards and policies.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure successful project completion.
Work Conditions:
- The Construction EHS Coordinator must be capable of working long hours in conditions where heat and cold are normal and acceptable conditions on a construction site. Additionally, (s)he must be willing to work in an ever-changing landscape where construction leads to commissioning and finally to handover to operations.
- Must be capable of providing direct tactical and strategic support to the clients-led projects.
- Must be capable of supporting project EHS efforts without direct oversight by EHS Management.
- Must demonstrate operating knowledge of construction regulations (29 CFR 1926) and Company's' EHS requirements, including but not limited to the client's Site Specific Safety Policies and Safe Work Practices.
- Must be able work in both controlled construction office environment/construction site/or plant.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to support construction operation.
- Candidates must be capable of standing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders.
- Occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs., as required.
- Must be able to frequently to walk construction site perimeter.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required)
- 3+ years construction project EHS experience. (Required)
- Must have Electrical / Lock out Tag Out Experience (Required)
- Must have NFPA 70E Training (Required use of this training during the candidates career, not just acquiring the training for this project).
- Strong working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Regulations and 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and database creation and management. Deep functional experience working with MS Excel is essential, including the ability to use formulas, PivotTables, statistical analysis and the production of Charts/Graphs.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at the same time and be able to respond quickly to changing priorities.
- High degree of professionalism and integrity.
- The ideal candidate will be assertive but professional in their interactions with the client and Contractor personnel, at all levels.
- A proven record of continuous learning as demonstrated through on-going completion of OSHA General Industry/Construction/Maritime or NFPA training courses.
- GHST, OHST, ASP or other national or internationally recognized EHS credential (Preferred)
- Associate or bachelor's Degree. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed programs in construction, engineering and/or occupational safety & health (Preferred)
- Project Management experience working within a Construction leadership team on a large construction project is a plus. (Preferred)
