Estimator

Client: Tank Terminal Company
Location: Downtown New Orleans, La

The Estimator will be a supplemental contract employee hired to work under Client's technical direction. These roles and responsibilities do not/may not encompass all these responsibilities initially. 

Job Responsibilities: 
* Knowledgeable of standard business cost control procedures and practices 
* Become familiar with and comply with cost control procedures and practices 
* Develop a list of materials, parts, tools, or other equipment identified 
* Review material and labor requirements in order to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components 
* Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. 
* Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues 
* Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimate 
* Calculate standard labor hours necessary to produce objective or to complete project 
* Identify performance improvement opportunities and provide recommendations to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs 

Qualifications & Skills for Success: 
* Minimum of 10 (3 to 5) years of experience in working cost estimation on capital project, turnarounds, and major maintenance 
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution, with studies in physical science, mathematics, operations research, and statistics - not required but helps 
* Estimator certifications such as a Certified Cost Consultant, Certified Cost Engineer, or Certified Cost Technician, through the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering would be helpful but is not required 
* Advanced (Basic/Intermediate) level with standard petrochemical project, turnaround, and major maintenance estimating tools 
* Understands and utilize standard auditing requirements 
* Intermediate/advanced (Basic/Intermediate) level in SAP or GSAP, MS Excel, MS Word 
* Experience with Aspen or an equivalent estimating tool is preferred but not required
