Mechanical Engineer - Marrero, LA

Our client is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to help assist their plant in Marrero, LA. Focuses on solving industry problems through innovative refining technologies and strategic placement for logistical advantaged operations. Position acts as a key member of the Engineering and Inspection team and has the primary objective of assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspection of plant equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties in compliance with all regulatory activities including
    Process Safety Audits, Process Hazard Analysis Audits, Management of
  • Change Process, and corporate compliance auditing
  • Assist unit supervision for unit process safety including the effective use of the Recommended Good Practices manuals and Process Safety, Standards and Guidelines
  • Maintain compliance with refinery safety policies
  • Assist with the development of unit-specific safety materials such as Lockout/Tag out, etc.
  • Work within established guidelines to ensure best practices are being implemented.
  • Comply with facility emergency response plan in the event of an emergency at the facility
  • Assist in the development of new advanced control schemes in support of refinery optimization
  • Maintain knowledge of design and operating parameters of equipment, reviews equipment health data and analyzes the data to identify problems, diagnoses equipment problems and communicates need for maintenance work orders
  • Strive to determine root cause of failure (RCFA) and assist in the implementation of improved operations and maintenance procedures
  •  Develop and maintain necessary capabilities to assure the optimal operations and reliability of area of assigned responsibility
  • Apply the principals of pipe system design with respect to fluid mechanics, valves, and pump operations

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or
    university
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience required in a maintenance/mechanical role
  • Operations or Maintenance experience in a Petrochemical environment 
  • Prior experience in a petrochemical manufacturing plant in either maintenance or operations
  • PC and lean tool experience
  • Project management experience
