P6 Master Scheduler - Turnaround

Position Summary

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, integrating, and managing the overall Primavera P6 schedule for refinery turnaround events. This role ensures accurate planning, sequencing, and execution of all turnaround activities-supporting safe, on-time, and cost-effective delivery.
The Scheduler partners closely with planning, operations, construction, and contractor teams to maintain an integrated event schedule, monitor progress, and proactively mitigate schedule risks in a high-intensity turnaround environment.


Key Responsibilities

Turnaround Schedule Development

  • Develop and maintain a fully integrated, resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedule for refinery turnaround events
  • Build Level 3-5 schedules covering scope from pre-turnaround planning through execution and startup
  • Incorporate detailed logic ties across disciplines (mechanical, I&E, piping, inspection, etc.)
  • Sequence work based on unit downtime constraints, execution strategy, and access limitations
  • Integrate contractor schedules into a single master schedule

Schedule Optimization & Critical Path Management

  • Identify and manage critical and near-critical paths across the turnaround scope
  • Perform schedule analysis, including float erosion, logic gaps, and resource conflicts
  • Optimize schedule performance and recommend improvements to execution sequencing
  • Support development of contingency and recovery plans for schedule delays

Execution Support & Progress Tracking

  • Maintain and update schedule progress throughout turnaround lifecycle
  • Interface daily with planners, field supervision, and contractors to validate progress and percent complete
  • Track installed quantities and milestone completion
  • Produce look-ahead schedules (e.g., 2-week / 6-week) to support field execution
  • Monitor alignment of schedule to actual field conditions and constraints

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide regular reporting to turnaround leadership, including:
    • Critical path updates
    • Milestone status
    • Schedule variance and recovery plans 
  • Communicate risks and impacts clearly to operations, maintenance, and project teams
  • Support daily scheduling meetings and turnaround status reviews

Turnaround Integration & Coordination

  • Align schedule with turnaround milestones, shutdown/startup windows, and execution priorities 
  • Coordinate with planners to ensure job plans, work packages, and durations are accurate and validated 
  • Support constructability reviews and integrated event planning sessions
  • Ensure alignment between scope development, material readiness, and execution sequencing


Required Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of experience in project scheduling in refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (required)
  • Proven experience supporting refinery turnarounds or outages
