Position Overview

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for supporting engineering and project execution teams in the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems and equipment. This role involves coordinating with project managers, design and process engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and timely project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, hands-on design experience, and a proactive approach to solving engineering challenges in oil and gas production environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review designs, specifications, and drawings of mechanical equipment in compliance with ASME, API, UL, and NACE standards.

  • Collaborate with process engineers to complete mechanical designs for vessels and piping systems.

  • Perform ASME Section VIII Div. 1 calculations and optimize designs using COMPRESS® or manual methods.

  • Interpret and create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

  • Select appropriate components (valves, instruments, controls, etc.) based on design requirements and customer specifications.

  • Conduct Material Take-Offs (MTOs), develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), and identify long-lead items.

  • Support supply chain teams in sourcing alternatives for components with extended lead times.

  • Participate in design reviews, perform engineering checks, and ensure documentation accuracy across departments.

  • Provide technical input during proposal and estimating phases to support accurate project costing.

  • Anticipate potential project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Offer subject matter expertise for manufacturing processes and product lines.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of pressurized equipment and oilfield production systems.

  • Strong understanding of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API, AWS, ASTM, and OSHA standards.

  • Familiarity with NACE MR0175 and oil & gas equipment (separators, tanks, piping systems, skidded systems, etc.).

  • Proficient in engineering software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and COMPRESS®.

  • Working knowledge of instrumentation, valves, and electrical systems within skidded packages.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
