PTS Advance has a long-term, part-time position for Sr. Piping design Engineer for our client in Walnut Creek, Ca.
Tasks will vary in complexity, depending upon project requirements, necessitating a flexible work approach. The roles and responsibilities for the position will be dictated by the individual's level of experience and aptitude for taking on and completing work, and on the available work on hand.
Common Roles & Responsibilities:
- Detailed engineering, design, and documentation of piping systems and associated mechanical work, including, but not limited to, isometric diagrams, equipment layout, pipe stress analysis, installation details, hydraulic analysis, and pump sizing.
- Review of reference drawings received from clients, Vendors, and sub-consultants, for integration into construction sets and client record drawings.
- Review of bid and construction drawings and assembly of transmittal sets
- Coordination with sr. designers and other AutoCAD operators.
- Interface with internal and Client staff (engineering, document control, implementing organizations, ) as required during the design change development and approval process
- Prepare piping designs based on project requirements (pipe routing, models, piping arrangements, isometrics, material take-offs, pipe support details) for industrial plants
- Conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment, nozzle loads, and anchor locations
- Independently develops complex plot plans and site plans of all types of plants, with the use of PFD's, process or mechanical datasheets, in accordance with instructions, specifications, standards, HSE requirements, economics, ergonomics, constructability, operational and maintenance requirements
- Executes projects, within the established man-hour budget, schedule and material quantity budgets
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 10-12 years' experience, including projects, plant support and field work, with emphasis on process industries and utilities
- Extensive experience in field work such
- BS or equivalent Mechanical Engineering degree
- AutoCAD drafting skills
