PTS Advance is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Planner supporting a chemical manufacturing site located in Los Angeles, CA. This position will report to the Los Angeles Supply Chain Manager.

 

Job Scope

 

The Production Planner will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials and finished goods across the manufacturing process. This position is responsible for developing and executing production plans, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and plant operations to support on-time delivery and overall operational efficiency.

 

The ideal candidate will have hands-on production planning experience within a manufacturing plant environment, with direct ownership of production schedules and material planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Develop and maintain production and raw material plans aligned with business objectives, balancing service levels, operational efficiency, and supply chain costs

 

Own and execute production schedules, work orders, and MRP planning, ensuring alignment with plant capacity and material availability

 

Manage inventory levels within targeted ranges to ensure continuity of supply while minimizing excess and working capital

 

Analyze and maintain short- and long-term production capacity plans, identifying constraints and proactively mitigating risks

 

Respond to changes in demand or supply conditions, assessing impact and communicating effectively with key stakeholders

 

Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure alignment and execution of production plans

 

Own, track, and report key performance indicators such as OTIF, DIO, SLOB, and other relevant supply chain metrics

 

Maintain accurate SAP master data (e.g., BOMs, routings, planning parameters) to support effective planning processes

 

Support new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring readiness of materials, capacity, and production plans

 

Contribute to IBP/S&OP processes, providing input on inventory strategies and supply planning decisions

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Minimum 4+ years of hands-on production planning experience within a manufacturing plant environment

 

Demonstrated experience with direct ownership of production schedules, work orders, and MRP planning in a manufacturing setting.

 

Hands-on experience using SAP or equivalent ERP systems for production planning, including MRP execution, work order management, and master data maintenance

 

Experience working directly with manufacturing operations, production lines, or plant floor teams

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

Strong experience in MRP, production scheduling, and capacity planning

Solid understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM), routings, and manufacturing constraints

Ability to manage material availability aligned to production schedules

Strong knowledge of inventory management and optimization principles

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions

Ability to proactively manage priorities and respond to dynamic production environments

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience in chemical or process manufacturing industries, including continuous or batch manufacturing environments

Experience supporting S&OP / IBP processes within a plant environment

Experience with new product introduction (NPI) in a manufacturing setting

Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities

Knowledge of SIOP / IBP planning processes

 

Salary range:  $78,200-$95,000 per year.
