Real Estate Specialist – Renewable Energy
Responsibilities:
Land Acquisition: Lead the process of acquiring land and property rights for renewable energy projects, including preparing and reviewing contracts, securing real property agreements, and managing due diligence processes.
Title Procurement: Coordinate with title companies to obtain title commitments for properties, ensuring accurate ownership information before entering lease agreements. Facilitate efficient title closing processes to align with project timelines. Maintain and update title commitments regularly, tracking ownership changes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Contract Management & Drafting: Allocate 25-50% of time to drafting, reviewing, and finalizing real estate agreements, contracts, and leases for renewable energy projects, ensuring adherence to legal requirements, financing guidelines, and project schedules.
Project Support: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, legal teams, and other stakeholders to provide real estate expertise throughout the development and construction phases of renewable energy projects.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Analyze real property agreements, title reports, surveys, and land rights for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Identify potential risks or encumbrances that could impact development and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate issues.
Due Diligence: Oversee and coordinate due diligence activities, including property surveys, title searches, and other investigations to ensure land suitability for renewable energy development.
Data Management & Reporting: Maintain property and real estate agreement data within a land management database. Prepare reports on real estate activities, project progress, and market trends for internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, local communities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and ensure smooth development.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support renewable energy land development initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:
The Real Estate Specialist will lead land acquisition efforts for renewable energy projects, focusing on drafting and negotiating real estate agreements, conducting due diligence on land rights, and ensuring compliance with legal and project requirements. This role requires expertise in contract management, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement within the renewable energy sector.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience or a combination of education and experience in real estate or renewable energy development will also be considered.
- Advanced degrees are a plus.
