Maintenance/Reliability Engineer

Our Client's Advanced Materials Division is now searching for a new Maintenance/Reliability Engineer for our Akron, Ohio location.

As the Maintenance/Reliability Engineer, you will:  
  • Experienced Maintenance Engineer with strong insight and knowledge in the area of root cause problem solving.
  • Utilize chemical and mechanical knowledge to problem solve across multiple disciplines and unit operations.
  • Plan and perform maintenance repairs with focus on problem elimination.
  • Observe recurring maintenance problems and determine any trouble-shooting tools that can be used to collect data on equipment and failure symptoms/elements.
  • Train maintenance employees in reliability techniques.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing Preventative/Predictive Maintenance tasks for equipment utilizing SRCM principles. 
  • Capture historical equipment data, interpret it and revise the Preventative/Predictive Maintenance tasks that result in improved equipment performance and reliability.
  • Maintain equipment files and CMMS info with up-to-date prints, factory spec sheets, and parts lists for existing and new equipment.
  • Consult with purchasing to specify and stock correct replacement parts.
  • Sponsor Capital Appropriation Requests and execute capital projects from engineering through start-up.
  • Identify and provide justification for capital projects.
  • Provide process troubleshooting and technical directions to manufacturing operations.
  • Use and maintain systems associated with ISO, Management of Change, and Process Safety Management.
  • Assure compliance to all HS&E requirements and regulations.
  • Continuously improve plant effectiveness in Safety/Environmental by providing clear and visible leadership.
  • Openly support management of plant assets to achieve strategic and budgetary objectives.
  • Openly support continuous improvements of customer service and quality.
  • Continual improvement in general maintenance knowledge through vendor training or other educational tools.


Skills and experiences required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering; Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
  •  3+ years' experience as a 'hands on' maintenance engineer.
  • Progressive experience in chemical plant systems and equipment operation.
  • Experience in project management.
  • A strong aptitude and interest in learning and expanding maintenance functions towards overall problem elimination.
  • Strong background in rotating equipment; pumps, blowers, compressors etc.
  • General PC skills, familiarity and proficiency in MS Project and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong background in the fundamentals of a CMMS.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with vendors, crafts, engineers, manufacturing employees and other maintenance.
  • Must have training and proven experience in root cause problem solving.
  • Must have the facilitation skills to lead groups in the various problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience in multi-tasking, prioritizing complex issues and managing multiple projects.
