Our client is one of the largest chemicals manufacturers in the US with production units across multiple locations. They have 6 core business divisions and over 2,700 employees. They have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Engineer at their Baton Rouge, LA location.


Position Objective:

This position is responsible for supporting continued facility compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements in accordance with corporate and local environmental procedures.


Areas of Accountability:

  • Facilitate continued facility compliance with monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting provisions of air and multimedia regulations.
  • Provide regulatory and compliance support to facility via procedures, training, memorandums, position papers, and oral and written documentation.
  • Coordinate permitting and compliance activities associated with outside agencies as directed. Participate in internal and external meetings with agencies, prepare written responses, and assist in agency discussions for areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare environmental compliance reports, provide regulatory interpretation support to plant personnel, and maintain recordkeeping in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with technical review of release notifications to agencies and participate as directed in investigation of environmental incidents.
  • Participate in internal and external environmental audits and facilitate program improvements.
  • Track compliance with provisions of federal consent decree for site as requested.
  • Additional environmental tasks and duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree in Engineering preferred, or also related Environmental Science discipline;

5+ years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance support, as well as procedures and reporting;

Preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of environmental statutes, permitting, and regulatory reporting, and relevant work history facilitating compliance in an industrial manufacturing environment.


Position will best suit somebody with 5-15 years of Environmental Engineering experience and salary will be dependent on experience level. Salary will be competitive based on current market and will also have a comprehensive benefits package.
