The Sr. Director of Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering is responsible for the effective leadership of the Civil, Structural, and Geotech engineering groups across the company.   This role focuses on the continued development of technical excellence within these groups, providing business development support with these groups to the various regions and workstreams, and supporting the engineering groups with their career pathing, training, and development of the engineers.  
 
This position can be based in any of our regional offices across the company and requires occasional travel. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Champions the company's core values of Culture, Ethics, Performance, Compliance, Schedule Drive, Alignment to Client, and Employee Utilization.
  • Oversees and manages a team of Discipline Engineering Directors and Managers.
  • Provides technical leadership guidance
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains Director and Manager-level staff across the company. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Technical
    1. Develop, implement and maintain a strategy for leading the discipline engineering groups as they continue to evolve and expand their subject matter expertise.
    2. Act as a Subject Matter Expert within their engineering discipline and provide project support in that role
    3. Act as the Engineer of Record, as needed, to support various projects
    4. Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations, projects, and systems.
    5. Develop functional relationships with the organization's regional leadership to ensure that the regions are receiving the necessary engineering support.
    6. Manage and maintain applicable industry standards for company
    7. Independently perform, review, and supervise engineering analysis and design.
  • Training, Development and Career Pathing
    1. Help support the discipline engineering management in the development of career pathing within their disciplines.
    2. Works with executive leadership to develop and maintain the overall strategy for engineering training and development 
    3. Develop a discipline engineering growth plan to identify hiring needs, training opportunities, process development needs, and current gaps/challenges and plan for their resolution.
  • Process
    1. Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Business Development
    1. Reviews and approves proposals, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
    2. Assigns appropriate technical resources to support the regions during the development of proposals
    3. Help build and grow business opportunities by supporting and maintaining existing client relationships as well as exploring new clients and workstreams
    4. Maintain a pulse on industry business cycles, trends, and technology and prioritize BD efforts toward high-potential and top opportunities.
  • A certain level of billability is required.
 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated management, business, and engineering management skills
  • Results-oriented with ability to balance other business priorities
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong technical, supervisory, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry and of engineering.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • Must be considered a subject matter expert in either Civil or Structural or Geotech disciplines with strong working knowledge of each discipline.
  • Construction knowledge and field experience 

Pay Range: $160K-$210K
