Location: Plaquemine, LA 
Schedule: 40 hours weekly
Duration: Long term contract
 
Our client, a leading organization in the industrial and manufacturing sector, is seeking a Buyer to support procurement and sourcing operations at their Plaquemine facility. This role plays a vital part in ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing of materials, equipment, and services to maintain seamless plant operations.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Purchase and expedite delivery of raw materials, equipment, spare parts, supplies, and services to support ongoing operations.
  • Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements under management direction for materials, services, and new project requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to fulfill purchasing needs and provide timely updates on order status.
  • Conduct supplier audits, build and manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Prepare and analyze RFQs; review purchase orders and requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized purchasing records and support documentation retrieval.
  • Monitor market trends and apply insights to strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure vendor contracts are accurate and compliant with company policies.
  • Participate in meetings and assist with other procurement-related activities as needed.
 
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based role with occasional plant visits
  • May involve sitting for extended periods and occasional standing, walking, bending, or climbing stairs
  • Use of PPE required in designated plant areas
Requirements: 
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and work collaboratively across departments
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles
