Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Location: Glen Allen/Richmond, VA
We are seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist to join our team in Glen Allen/Richmond, VA. In this role, you will perform environmental and siting studies, prepare permitting applications, and analyze environmental data to support projects such as high-voltage transmission line routing, power generation facilities, and water treatment systems. You'll contribute to field surveys, environmental reporting, and compliance audits while ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys, assessments, and collect project-related data for environmental impact studies.
- Prepare environmental reports, impact statements, and transmission line routing studies.
- Collect, compile, and manage GIS data for analysis and map production.
- Support environmental site investigations, erosion control efforts, and subsurface soil sampling.
- Perform and document environmental compliance audits.
- Prepare permitting applications across air, land use, and cultural resources.
- Lead site selection studies and develop documentation under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related natural science field and 4+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Master's degree in Environmental Science or related natural science field and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of environmental site assessment methods, compliance, and permitting processes.
- Experience with GPS and ArcGIS desktop.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license required.
