We are seeking an experienced result-oriented individual for the Maintenance Excellence Supervisor. This role is responsible for the coordination, alignment, and execution support of all continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance organization. We are looking for a highly talented individual with strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to consistently apply structured approaches to develop sustainable short- and long-term performance improvement strategies. This role is responsible for the development and leading 3-5 direct staff as well as 5+ contractors including the track team and maintenance craft scheduling team.
 
Process:
  • Manage strategic approach to improvement opportunities with the largest impact for each execution area
  • Develop and maintain a 3-year planned progression of KPI's, People and process transformation
  • Develop, maintain maintenance and execution of competitiveness KPIs
  • Identify and deliver maintenance and execution improvement opportunities
  • Partner with maintenance, execution and production supervisors to support improvement work streams including building and developing capability; standardizing and embedding our processes; modernizing our systems; and driving performance
  • Deliver standardized work processes and consistency across all execution groups to enable monitoring of KPI
  • The focal point for internal and external audits of controls works processes
  • Accountable for delivery of competitiveness for the site execution organizations
 
Benchmarking:
  • Maintain and utilize historical cost database and apply learnings for improved field execution
  • Assess performance threats and opportunities against both internal and external benchmarks
  • Site focal point for Solomon Benchmarking in Maintenance and Turnarounds
  • Support Internal and External Benchmarking Exercises with a third-party company
  • Accountable for tracking and evaluation and staffing levels of contractors for work activities
 
Key Challenges
  • Highly demanding and fast paced job, particularly during large TA & Capital projects.
  • Overall capital portfolio consists of 180-200 projects. TA/FBC portfolio of $100-200mln annually. Complex Infrastructure & NRM portfolio across multiple funding types.
  • Condensed period for cost review meetings and forecasting. Monthly cycles outside TA execution, weekly for TA during execution only.
 
Qualifications
  • Engineering or related technical degree is required
  • 10+ years of varied experience in projects, maintenance and/or turnarounds in an oil refining/petrochemical manufacturing environment
  • Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in implementing structures and frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience in Refining or Petrochemical work processes, technical disciplines, and functions.
  • Prior experience directly supervising personnel
  • Strong Maintenance or TA execution skills and project controls skills
  • Thorough understanding of SAP or equivalent financial accounting systems as related to projects, turnarounds or maintenance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software use and tools (e.g., Primavera, SAP, Power BI MS Dynamics)
  • Understanding of the Maintenance Execution work process, specifically the planning and scheduling of work activities
  • Ability to Drive program excellence with an understanding and appreciation of the critical data and by setting clear expectations
  • Demonstrated strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
