Reliability Engineer

Position Summary
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reliability Engineer to lead and champion our efforts in identifying and eliminating equipment failures at our facility in Joplin, Missouri. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing preventative maintenance strategies, conducting root cause analysis, establishing reliability improvement standards, and providing ongoing training and education to enhance equipment reliability.

- Develop and adopt standards that improve equipment reliability, including areas such as preventive maintenance (PM), root cause problem elimination (CRCPE), equipment procurement, spare parts, equipment rebuilds, installation, and work execution. Promote and educate maintenance and operations personnel to increase adoption rates.
- Manage and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to track program execution and efficiency.
- Perform gap analysis of equipment condition monitoring points, work order backlog, and notification compliance to make data-based improvements. Track and report improvements to plant.
- Regularly audit reliability program results to verify equipment life extension, reduced maintenance requirements, and repair costs.
- Ensure the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance activities to support the overall reliability program.
- Collaborate closely with purchasing, stores, and engineering departments to incorporate equipment reliability considerations in various project phases such as facility engineering, equipment procurement, maintenance vendor selection, and spare part stocking.
- Review modifications, installation drawings, and specifications, and recommend optimal maintenance strategies for each component on all assets.
- Provide technical assistance to the maintenance and operations departments on equipment and reliability issues, as well as emerging technologies. Serve as a subject matter expert on reliability for the plant.
- Recommend innovative solutions to extend equipment and component life by analyzing repetitive equipment failures and breakdowns to identify for root cause.
- Review condition monitoring reports and support recommendations for corrective actions when abnormal conditions are identified.
- Audit the equipment structure list in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure accurate and suitable identification and labeling of all equipment at the facility.
- Alert the Maintenance and Operations Manager to instances of equipment and facility practices that unintentionally degrade reliability, performance, or increased maintenance costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma methodology (DMAIC).
- Knowledge of parts inventory management and mechanical and electrical equipment design reliability principles.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, preventive and predictive maintenance systems, and condition monitoring and fixed time maintenance strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of precision alignment and vibration analysis.
- SAP maintenance planning and scheduling and associated functions as the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge preferred.

- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- This job is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, fumes, odors and airborne particles, vibration, and confined spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to chemicals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to traverse both the production and office floors; remain in stationary positions while operating heavy equipment and/or office equipment; position self to inspect, operate, and maintain heavy equipment, which may include climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, with hearing protection provided.
