Job Description:
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and functionality of our facilities through routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repairs. This role involves regular inspections and prompt responses to maintenance requests to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs in and around the building, covering electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance to prolong the lifespan of building systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, addressing hazards and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Diagnose and promptly repair building systems and equipment malfunctions to reduce downtime.
- Maintain an inventory of necessary tools, equipment, and supplies for maintenance tasks.
- Respond swiftly to emergency maintenance requests, minimizing disruption for building occupants.
- Maintain the building's exterior if not outsourced to a contractor.
- Log and keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, materials used, and inspections.
- Assist in managing the maintenance budget by sourcing cost-effective solutions and tracking expenses.
- Operate computerized Energy Management systems.
- Respond immediately to emergencies (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and maintenance concerns.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing fix requests and problems in a timely and courteous manner.
- Be available for rotating on-call and after-hours work requirements.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Licensed or journeyman electrician.
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
- Safety-oriented with knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
