Our client is an environmental consulting and construction firm that designs and implements sustainable environmental solutions, including solid and hazardous waste management, landfill gas, site remediation, renewable energy, and regulatory compliance. They have an immediate hybrid opportunity for a Sr. Project Mechanical Engineer within their Los Angeles, CA location.
This person will also be responsible for:
- Assuring that all mechanical engineering designs meet applicable codes and standards including company standards. This includes API, ASME and any others used in static and rotating equipment mechanical design and development for the facility.
- Managing and coordinating fieldwork associated with their projects.
- Taking the lead, mentoring, and managing junior-level staff.
- Delegating project deliverables to staff for completion.
- Leading and serving as the point of contact for smaller projects.
- Preparing proposals and associated cost estimates.
- Preparing mechanical equipment descriptions
- Performing equipment sizing.
- Preparing equipment data sheets.
- Preparing mechanical equipment technical specifications and equipment RFQs
- Requesting budgetary pricing to support study or project work.
- Vendor drawing reviews.
- Preparing studies, which includes cost-benefit analysis for competing mechanical solutions resulting in robust, cost-effective designs.
- Trouble-shooting any existing systems in the field.
- Determining modifications to existing systems to change performance, etc.
- Coordinating activities with engineering, clients, vendors and subcontractors as required.
- Assuring excellent communication and review of vendor documents and approval prior to final sign off and procurement of all mechanical equipment.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (must have).
- A minimum of six (6) years of related experience is required.
- Must have experience with AutoCAD.
- Must have working experience with PFDs and P&IDs.
- Strong understanding with process piping and equipment.
- Ability to evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Strong knowledge of principles and practices or related fields, and functions on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Must have experience selecting fixed and rotating equipment (i.e. compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, tanks and heat exchangers.)
- A valid driver's license with a driving required in good standing required.
- P.E. is a plus.
- CADWORX and Navisworks experience is a plus.
