Job Description:
The Engineering Standards group is the steward for all approved company engineering standards, piping and valve specifications, standard drawings, project go-by packages, engineering procedures and guidelines. The department collaborates with numerous client technical Subject Matter Experts across a spectrum of disciplines to deliver safe, industry standard, and cost-effective solutions for client projects.
The department also provides company personnel access to a variety of custom developed applications including the Standards Portal Site, the Standards Selection Tool, Valve Specification Database, Piping Specification Database, and Waiver Application. The department performs quality system evaluations of valves, gaskets, flanges, and fittings manufacturers for addition to the clients Approved Manufacturers' List (AML). In addition, the Standards Team can assist project teams and stakeholders regarding standards selection and interpretation of industry codes and standards.
Job Duties:
The Senior Standards & Specifications Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Develop and maintain pipe and valve specifications for pipeline, refinery, power plant, and chemical plant construction.
- Evaluate Standards and Specifications to promote safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that conform to industry standards, good engineering practice, and are consistent with Enterprise Products risk tolerance.
- Collaborate with experts, departments and resources throughout the company and industry on the evaluation and development of standards and specifications promoting safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions in conformance with industry standards, good engineering practice, and consistent with Enterprise Products risk tolerance.
- Collaborate with experts, departments, and resources throughout the company and industry to develop high quality standards that consistently reflect Enterprise Products commitment to safety, reliability, and performance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to Project Managers, project teams, Operations, Maintenance, Field Engineering, and other stakeholders for assistance with standards interpretations, standards selection, correct application of codes, project-specific specifications, standards waivers, and any other questions or support stakeholders need related to Enterprise Products standards.
- Assist Supply Chain Management with reviews and analyses of manufacturer and supplier quality management systems and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related science is required; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree is preferred.
- Understanding of plant piping design, codes, and specifications.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in refining, chemical processing, pipeline, or related, industries.
- Knowledge about valves used in pipeline, processing, chemical, and refinery operations.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards (API, ASME, ASTM, ISA etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work both independently and with others in the organization.
- Available for occasional travel
