Structural Professional Engineer – Industrial Manufacturing

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support engineering and capital projects across multiple industrial manufacturing facilities.
This role will provide structural engineering expertise for industrial projects involving gravity loads, lateral loads, equipment loads, and the preparation of construction documents. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building codes, construction materials, industry standards, and structural analysis software.
The Structural Engineer will conduct site visits and collaborate closely with project managers, engineering teams, construction personnel, and other project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office, with additional travel to manufacturing facilities based on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, coordinate, and oversee assigned structural engineering projects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, industry standards, and internal engineering requirements.
- Conduct onsite investigations, structural assessments, and field measurements.
- Perform structural engineering calculations for industrial applications and equipment-related loading.
- Collaborate with modelers, designers, and drafters to develop accurate construction drawings and documentation.
- Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other project participants to coordinate project requirements.
- Provide construction administration and technical support throughout project execution.
- Conduct subject matter expert reviews of structural designs, calculations, and project documents.
- Assign responsibilities, provide technical guidance, and mentor members of the project team.
- Identify and resolve field-related issues to help maintain project schedules and deliverables.
- Support multiple projects across industrial manufacturing facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, with a concentration or focus in Structural Engineering.
- At least 10 years of professional structural engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in a structural engineering capacity.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles for:
- Concrete
- Structural steel
- Wood
- Masonry
- Cold-formed steel
- Familiarity with applicable building codes, design standards, and engineering practices.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RAM Structural Systems, RAM Elements, RAM Connections, or Enercalc.
- Active Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer license.
- Ability and willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities up to 40% of the time, depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience supporting industrial or process-oriented projects.
- Previous experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with CAD and building design software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience with structural design for equipment support systems, industrial buildings, and manufacturing facilities.
