Turnaround Scheduler
Position Summary
The Lead Turnaround Scheduler facilitates the turnaround scheduling process with all participants to development an accurate schedule that supports the development of a full-funding cost estimate and efficient execution of the turnaround event. This person plays a lead role directing job plans into one comprehensive schedule and the establishment of a manpower performance baseline.
Planning Phase
* Coordinate the overall development of the turnaround schedule that encompasses the pre-TA, TA and Post-TA phases of the turnaround event.
* Coordinate the development of the turnaround schedule milestone structure inside the primavera scheduling tool. Milestone structure to include shutdown start, shutdown complete, chemical cleaning start, chemical cleaning complete, mechanical start, mechanical complete, startup start and startup complete.
* Work with operations personnel to incorporate detailed job plans for the unit shutdown, chemical cleaning/decontamination and startup into the overall turnaround schedule.
* Work with discipline planning personnel to incorporate detailed job plans for the mechanical, instrument and electrical job plans into the overall turnaround schedule.
* Work with turnaround planners and the capital project managers to incorporate the detailed capital project job plans into the overall turnaround schedule.
* Establish logic ties between individual activities within a job plan and between each job plan as required.
* Review and promptly address any items listed on the Schedule Error Log Report.
* Perform schedule leveling activities to minimize the duration of the overall turnaround event while leveling contractor craft resources.
* Prepare contractor work packages for the turnaround cost estimating process.
* Coordinate schedule review meetings with refinery and contractor personnel.
* Participate in scheduled turnaround meetings.
* Provide input to resolve any scheduling concerns and provide recommendations improving the overall scheduling process.
Execution Phase
* Work with field coordinators, contractors, discipline leads and supervisors to update the turnaround schedule.
* Develop and distribute turnaround schedules to all shift personnel. Post updated schedules to the TA Website. Achieve daily schedules that can be used for reference for future turnarounds.
* Develop schedule variance reports for critical path work scope and analyze any deviations or changes from the baseline schedule. Review significant deviations with execution management and supervision.
* Ensure that additional work requests (AWRs) are planned and incorporated into the schedule in a timely basis.
* Update Daily Turnaround Management Report information (milestone dates, progress updates, schedule variances, etc.).
Post Turnaround Phase
* Monitor and progress the completion of post turnaround activities.
* Participate in post-turnaround lessons learned meetings to provide input for improving the overall scheduling process for future turnarounds.
* Archive final schedule information after the turnaround is complete.
Requirements:
10+ years experience scheduling in a refinery environment
5-10+ years of turnaround experience (TA exp a must)
Turnaround planning software experience (Primavera P6 experience required)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
